DEVELOPMENT OF PILOT SYSTEM FOR THE AUTOMATIC PREVENTION ASH LIFTING FROM ASHES DEPOTS

Dust and ash, lifted from coal and ashes depots of thermal power, or from open-cut mining, significantly contributes to the pollution of the environment close to these structures. Transportation of dust and ash by wind, attenuation of its concentration in the air caused by atmospheric diffusion and dry deposition, are the most important mechanisms that affect the concentration of dust in the air and its precipitated quantities on the soil. Unfavorable physical and chemical characteristics of ash and law speed wind, lead to ash lifting. Under the unfavorable meteorological conditions, such as dry weather with strong winds, episodic pollutions are frequent. The problem is even bigger because depots are often in the immediate surroundings of settlements and agricultural areas. Ash depots are surface pollution sources, activated by unfavorable weather conditions. Ash depots are usually sprinkled by water, through processes of moisturizing and forming „water miror“, in order to minimize and/or disable ash emission.
