Description:
Laboratory research activities are in several areas of photonics, i.e., in the science of generating, controlling and detecting photons. As such it is closely related to optics, nonlinear optics, and photon-matter interaction. Our research is centered around following areas of photonics:
-Experimental and theoretical quantum optics
-Holography and holographic materials
-Photonic crystals
-Biophysics with ultra fast pulses
-Granular systems

Photonics is a driver for technological innovation and one of the most important key technologies for markets in the 21 century. Laboratory applied research is based on development of cw and pulsed lasers, extended cavity diode lasers and their applications.
Projects:
- SCOPES project: Modern optics and spectroscopy from research to education
- Development of primary length standards
- Reinforcing the Center for quantum and optical metrology
- Aerosol Remote Sensing with LIDAR
